What I love most about Gynecology and Obstetrics is that most of my patients are young and relatively healthy women.
Real Emergencies are rare and sometimes tricky to diagnose because the patient is still apparently ”fine” at the point of the examination. So the stress level of my work is MODERATE.
I and my patients would describe most of the symptoms in gynecology as ”annoying”, as they interfere more with the quality of life than pose a real threat to their health.
Gynecology is to its core a surgical medical specialty, and even though I love to operate, at the time it comes second to my true love, Obstetrics – babies and how to grow them in your belly!
Obstetrics: Miracle of life. Period.
Obstetricians and Midwives experience it daily in all of its diversity: from the first pregnancy test, to the first sonogram, to the birth and puerperium.
Obstetrics has its good sides and its bad sides, but mostly good sides!
It is an honor to take part in a delivery and share the beautiful moment when a couple becomes a family or a family welcomes a new addition. I would lie if it does not get emotional, even for me! *holds back tears*.
My Romanian Page
On Dr. Laura Stirbu I:
- write medical articles focusing on women’s health
- vlog about medical themes and my experience as a medical resident
- answer patient’s questions via vlogging
I have started this page because there is a lack of good medical articles in my country, most of them being written by non-professionals.
The medicine is also not as ”modern” as people expect it to be, with a lot of doctors still practing according to expired standards.
I must sound arrogant. There I am, ”saving my people” from other bad doctors.
I am no genius. I am not the best doctor out there. But I do care about my patient’s health and I am there to help them sort some health issues out, even if I do it online.
As far as I know, I am the only one doing it as a weekly blog/vlog, and the women with whom I talk too appreciate the advice.
For those who want to know, I don’t have any financial gain. A heart felt THANK YOU and the thought that I could help my patients in any way is all I need!
Here are some of my articles on Obstetrics&Gynecology. You can check out more on my blog:)
